Dumaguete Diving

All the dive sites feature large numbers of exotic fish (triggerfish, parrotfish, pennant fish, moray eels, surgeonfish, snappers, groupers, Moorish idols, lizardfish, gobies, batfish, lionfish, trumpet fish, puffer fish, filefish, emperors, wrasses, fusiliers and trevallies to name only a few).
Invertebrates from the smallest transparent shrimp and neon-coloured nudibranchs to gigantic basket sponges festooned with hundreds of multi-coloured crinoids; anemones, sea cucumbers, starfish and worms reside with vast numbers of hard and soft corals and gorgonian sea fans. Turtles, octopus, cuttlefish, manta rays, eagle rays and sharks make guest appearances.
Sumilon Island
Sumilon Island, just off the southern tip of Cebu, is located approximately 12 kilometers northeast of Dumaguete City. On Sumilon's western side is the Philippine's first marine sanctuary, which is the laboratory for marine biologists of Siliman University who were undoubtedly inspired by its magnificent coral gardens and drop-offs. Clear waters account for oustanding visibility. Varied and abundant marine life will provide divers with interesting dives for pleasure as much as for scientific observation. Sea snakes, turtles, sting rays, mantas, barracudas, garoupa, schools of jacks and even whale sharks - they are all here.
